Why the Littleton Crabapple Route?
The purpose of the “Littleton Crabapple Route, Inc.” is to continue privately what was originally a City government program. It was begun more then 40 years ago. Its goal was civic improvement and slum and blight prevention through beautification of the City. We will continue that effort by encouraging the planting and maintenance of additional flowering crabapple trees. While our focus will be on streets marked as the “Littleton Crabapple Route”, plantings throughout the City by private individuals and organizations will be encouraged. The Littleton Crabapple Route will be emphasized as an educational resource showing how citizen involvement in beautification efforts can benefit the community.

How can your contribution help?
Additional Trees – $50 - Working with O’Tooles Garden Center we will obtain young healthy trees, approximately 6 feet in height. We will secure permission of homeowners to plant them on their private property on the condition the owner will water and care for them. Finally we will find volunteers for the actual planting. A donation of $50 per tree will cover costs.
Additional Signs – $50 - This will cover manufacturing and installation of an additional sign.
Other Plans – City officials have tentatively committed to help us publicize our efforts with coverage in the “Littleton Report,” Channel 8, and on the City’s website. We plan a flyer, which merchants can place in their shops during the height of the flowering season, further showing off the Route. A float in the Western Welcome Parade might be in order. Let us know if you have other suggestions for additional action items.
Please help us honor the memory of Vaughn Gardinier and support the Littleton Crabapple Route. All contributions are tax deductible. Send checks to Littleton Crabapple Route, Inc at P.O. Box 110, Littleton, CO 80160.

- Sponsoring activities along the Route to encourage citizen use and appreciation, such as walks, runs, bicycle rides, parades, and other community celebrations.
- Developing a web site and printing educational materials that show steps individual property owners can take to enhance and beautify their properties.
- Appearing as an advocate for the Route and Civic beautification efforts at public meetings.
